Aaron Singleton With his Theatre degree in hand, Phoenix, Ariz. native Aaron Singleton (’06) set his sites on a professional acting career. His dreams soon began to take shape when he landed a role as an extra in a Universal Pictures film, “The Kingdom.”But, those first steps as a professional actor led him to an unexpected new role—volunteer missionary.

On the set of “The Kingdom,”Aaron befriended other extras who were Muslim and felt called to serve—to be witness to people outside of the Christian church. “Within every class I had at Concordia, I found a professor who encouraged me to trust in God and pursue whatever it was that was on my heart at the time.”Aaron followed his heart, and his journey has taken him to Kazakhstan through the LCMS World Mission’s Ablaze! movement where he teaches English in the predominantly Muslim country. The Ablaze! movement will bring the Gospel to 100 million uncommitted people by 2017. Aaron said the experience is both challenging and rewarding and offers new discoveries each day.
