1980’s Class Notes
Mark A. Schultz (’80) has accepted a call to Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich., serving as the University Organist and Assistant Professor of Music. Mark’s wife, Ramona (Hillers ’80) Schultz continues to teach preschool at St. Peter Lutheran, Macomb, Mich.
Sharon Hinck (’81) was recently named “Writer of the Year” at the 2007 Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference. Her novels include “The Secret Life of Becky Miller” (Bethany House, 2006), “Renovating Becky Miller” (Bethany House, 2007), and “The Restorer” (NavPress, 2007). Hinck, well-known for her previous chic-lit titles with Bethany House, is publishing a new Christian fantasy series with NavPress-the Sword of Lyric series. The first book, “The Restorer,” was released in May and has already received an enthusiastic response from early readers. Hinck has written the Mars Hill Classified series, a futuristic adventure series that has been critically acclaimed and enthusiastically embraced by readers. In May 2006, Pastor Shawn L. Kumm (’86) was elected to a second term as first vice president of the Wyoming District. Subsequent to the district convention he was elected chairman of the Board of Directors of the Wyoming District. He is completing his eleventh year as pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (LCMS), Laramie, Wyo. Prior to moving to the Wyoming District he served as assistant and campus pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church and Lutheran Student Center, Carbondale, Ill. (1990-1996). He and his wife, Barbie (nee Byers) are celebrating 17 years of marriage. They have three children: Alexandra, Emma, and Nickoli.
