CSP Hosts St. Paul Mayor’s Education Roundtable
St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman held his November 2006 Education Roundtable at Concordia University, St. Paul. Since Mayor Coleman took office in 2006, he has convened two roundtable discussions with St. Paul college and university presidents, K-12 school leaders and other education-focused organizations to discuss the general state of education in St. Paul.
Roundtable discussions focus on strategies to ensure a higher percentage of students, particularly students of color, graduate from high school and go on to earn college degrees.
“The Mayor understands that the economic and cultural health of the future of St. Paul depends on an educated workforce,” said University President Rev. Dr. Robert Holst, who provided opening remarks.
Psychology major Marianne Mitchell and Elementary Education major Mai Yang Pha, both sophomores in the University’s BOLD program, made the official welcome.
BOLD (Building Opportunities for Leadership Development) is a scholarship program offering students of color academic support to develop their leadership potential through mentoring opportunities.
