Entrepreneur Earns Start-Up Award

Willetta DeYoung (’89) was recognized recently by Upsize Magazine, a how-to magazine dedicated to helping small-business owners build their companies, for the success of her business in its inaugural year.

As the founder and owner of EDP (Exclusive Digital Printed) Textiles, launched in 2005, DeYoung’s company provides a cutting-edge process for custom printing textiles - everything from linen and silk to cotton and polyester.

She is among a handful of textile printers nationwide offering the cutting edge capability and the first digital textile printing operation in the Twin Cities area.

As the area’s exclusive provider of this innovative printing technology, which allows droplets of textile dye to be applied directly to fabric, DeYoung is attracting the interest of interior designers who appreciate the ability the technology can offer in bringing their creative concepts to fruition.

After graduating from Concordia University, DeYoung went on to earn a master of science degree in Textile, Design and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She worked for several years in textile research and development at Target Corporation.

“I believe God gives each of us dreams, abilities and ambitions….it’s our duty to fully utilize them and maximize the potential for His glory,” she said.
