CSP Launches New Literary Lecture Series

Award-winning Minnesota author Patricia Hampl was the featured speaker at the inaugural “Possibilities:” The Heginbotham Literary Lecture Series, held on campus in November.

Hampl’s lecture,”Writing a Life,” focused on the literary genre of memoir, in which she has earned popular acclaim, and included excerpts from her forthcoming book, The Florist’s Daughter, about her family of her youth.

Hampl is the author of numerous books and works of poetry, prose and non-fiction. She is a Regents’ Professor at the University of Minnesota and permanent faculty with the Prague Summer Program.

The lecture series was made possible by private donors who established an endowment fund honoring Dr. Eleanor Heginbotham, professor emeritus of English and Modern Languages, who served in Concordia’s English department 10 years and retired in 2004. Heginbotham is an award-winning Emily Dickinson expert and a Senior Fulbright Scholar.
